A personal beginning
Niels Metger
Creator of Artivo
Artivo grew out of a problem I had experienced personally for more than 15 years.
Visiting museums is one of my favorite things to do when traveling, and over the years I took thousands of photos of artworks and museum labels. Like many museum visitors, those photos eventually disappeared into my camera library.
I tried different ways to organize them without turning every museum visit into hours of administrative work. I created albums for individual museums and even considered building an automated workflow to transfer my museum photos into Evernote. But none of these approaches turned the photographs into a truly structured and useful record of what I had seen.
That long-standing frustration eventually became the idea for Artivo.
Artivo turns museum visits into a personal museum. Users can photograph an artwork and its museum label, or import photos from previous visits. Artivo helps identify and structure the works and organizes them by artwork, artist, museum and visit. The collection does not end with storing the photographs: users can return to what they have seen, explore the works further and continue learning from their museum visits.
For me, Artivo has already solved a problem I had lived with for many years. I now hope it can do the same for other people who love visiting museums.
